Nationally Recognised Qualification
This qualification reflects workers who provide initial pre-hospital and out-of-hospital basic health care response and assessment to patients requiring urgent medical services. The provision of urgent clinical care includes providing advanced life support. The qualification applies to people working in a variety of roles within the health care system.
This course will give you the qualifications for a pathway towards:
- An Ambulance Officer
- Patient Transport Officer
- Emergency Response Officer/Emergency Services Officer
- Medic at Events
The course consists of the following:
– 15 days face to face training
– 80 hours placement with ActFas Pty Ltd on the ambulance or suitable workplace as a Trainee
– Online and classroom assessments
Private course can be conducted onsite anywhere in Australia, with a minimum of a 6 week period, (week on, week off). Please contact the Training Manager for more details.

Course Fees $6000

This fee does not include placement. If you require placement, it can be negotiated at an accredited workplace or placement can be completed at ActFas by negotiation
The next available course will be held at ActFas Station, 7 George Street. This will be a 6 month program.
The course dates are:
Block One: Monday 13th January 2025 – Wed 15th January 2025 Time: 9am – 5pm
Block Two: Monday 10th February 2025 – Wednesday 12th February 2025 Time: 9am – 5pm
Block Three: Monday 10th March 2025 – Wednesday 12th March 2025 Time: 9am – 5pm
Block Four: Monday 7th April 2025 – Wednesday 9th April 2025 Time: 9am – 5pm
Block Five: Monday 5th May 2025 – Wednesday 7th May 2025 Time: 9am – 5pm
The Certificate is a Nationally Recognised Certificate that is only superseded when a new Certificate is published on training.gov

We do offer Credit Transfer on superseded Certificates, so you only have to upgrade selected units. Please contact us for more information.

Minimum age requirement 18 years.
Must have a full drivers licence
To complete 80 hours placement with ActFas or a negotiated workplace.
Method of delivery:
- Face to Face Training and Assessments(5 Blocks – 6 Months)
- Online Theory Assessments
80 hours placement can be with ActFas or a negotiated workplace:
– 40 hours as an Observer
– 40 Hours student Ambulance Officer
- First Aid Industry Standards as an Ambulance Officer
- Training in legislation regarding duty of care, consent & negligence
- Australian resuscitation council guidelines
- Advanced Hygiene Techniques
- Triage
- Delivering a newborn
- Advanced training in CPR and Airway management on a Adult/child/infant manikins
- Latest Manual Handling techniques using ActFas equipment or your workplace equipment.

- Team leadership in an Emergency Situation
- Online Theory Assessments (Self paced)

FAQ
Can I do the course in a shorter time span?
Yes, the course can be completed over 6 weeks with one week on and one week off. However you must have prior experience in the medical field and have completed 80 hours of clinical placement prior to receiving the qualification. You will need to provide a Resume and timesheets as evidence.
FAQ
Can I obtain a credit transfer on modules that I already have?
Yes, Skills Network will apply a credit transfer on recognised modules. This can be obtained by having a meeting with the Training Manager with your most recent USI Transcript.
I already work as an ERO and I have my Certificate 2 in Medical Service First Response, can I do a bridging course?
Yes, you will receive credit transfer on the modules you have already completed and you can just complete the bridging course. This will be negotiated with the Training Manager.
